Letter to All Clients

Dear Client I am writing on behalf of the partners of Cinque Ports Veterinary Associates to all of our farm animal clients. Cinque Ports was founded as a traditional mixed veterinary practice with all the vets treating all species. The advances in veterinary medicines and technology have led to vets tending to concentrate on one species only. We have encountered increasing difficulty in recruiting veterinary surgeons experienced in farm animal work which makes it difficult to provide the level of service we desire.

It is therefore with great sadness that we have taken the decision to stop providing veterinary services to farm animals from 1st January 2011. This will allow us to further the development of the equine and domestic pet side of our practice to meet the increasing trend to specialisation within the veterinary profession.

We have discussed our situation with some of our neighbouring practices and are pleased to announce that Westpoint Veterinary Group have offered to provide veterinary services to our farm animal clients. Westpoint are a farm animal only practice with offices in Ashford and Sevenoaks from where they visit farms all over Kent and East Sussex. Further details can be found on their website www.westpointfarmvets.co.uk . We are planning a joint farmers meeting with Westpoint in order to answer any questions and allow you to meet them. Westpoint will write to you directly to introduce themselves and give further details about the services that they offer.

In the intervening period, Westpoint will be providing out of hours emergency cover for our farm animal clients. Please ring your normal practice number and our duty vet will arrange a visit from the emergency Westpoint vet.

We will no longer be undertaking any TB testing nor any other ministry work from 1st Jan. We will cease to stock and be able to dispense farm animal medicines after 1st Jan but you will be able to obtain farm animal medicines from Westpoint. Westpoint will have access to our clinical records to enable a continuity of care with any on going or long term problems.
