  • Endoscopy

Endoscopes are essentially cameras on long tubes which allow us to look inside certain areas of the body.

They allow visual examination of inside of the throat, stomach, intestines and airways. We can use them to take various samples from these tissues. Although endoscopy requires a general anaesthetic, it is a much less invasive way of obtaining samples than explorative surgery.

Recently we have used our endoscope to remove foreign objects such as a fishing hook and a sock from dogs’ stomachs without the need for surgery.

They can also be used to examine and take biopsies from the colon area.
