Oscar Turner has been a frequent visitor to our Lydd and Ashford surgeries over a period of many months due to an extensive injury he suffered to his paw and lower leg.
It is a mystery how the injury occurred as he arrived home one morning with lacerations to his leg, exposing his tendons. Oscar underwent several operations to remove dead tissue, frequent dressing changes (as often as once a day in the early stages of treatment) as well as an intensive course of laser therapy to help heal his injuries.
Laser therapy is a treatment that we are pleased to be able to offer at Cinque Ports Vets and is a surgery free, drug free, non-invasive treatment to reduce pain, inflammation and speed healing. Laser therapy uses a beam of laser light to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy induces a biological
response in the cells called Photo-bio-modulation which leads to reduced pain, reduced inflammation and increased healing speed. The laser light is delivered through a non-invasive hand piece to treat the infected area. Laser therapy can be used to treat many conditions including wounds, post-surgical
healing, hip dysplasia, arthritis and many more. For more information on laser therapy please contact your local branch or see our website.
Oscar has since made a full recovery, as well as being our Star Pet of the Month! We miss his regular visits as we all got to know him during his treatment. Oscar coped with his dressing changes and laser therapy brilliantly, being a model patient and charming all the team. He is such a lovely cat and we are thrilled at his progress. We can’t wait to see him at booster time!
