We are participating in Pet Diabetes Month this November and encouraging pet owners to collect a urine sample from their pet. Pop into your local branch and pick up a Pet Diabetes leaflet which contains a free urine test stick to check for the presence of glucose in your pet's urine. The thyroid is made up of two glands located on either side of the windpipe of your cat's neck. It helps to regulate metabolic rate. In some cats, the thyroid becomes overactive which speeds up the metabolism. Hyperthyroidism mainly affects older cats and can occur in either or both of the glands.
